Retail sales surpass pre-COVID level

In a business survey conducted by Retailers Association of India, RAI has seen a growth of 26% in retail sale in the month of December 2021 compared to December 2020 which has surpassed the per pandemic level, growing 7% over December 2019.

Retailers Association of India has added that the retail sail growth has seen a dip in the last week of December due fresh lockdown due to fear of omicron variant of COVID.

Retail category that saw a positive trend include CDIT +26%, Jewellery +9%, sports good +14%, footwear +7% and apparel and clothing +2%. Although most category grew, furniture and furnishings saw a drop of -5% where as beauty, wellness and personal care fell -7%.
